At Children’s Health Council (CHC), we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and our ability to support families depends on a strong foundation of community engagement and philanthropy. That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome Bettina Kohlbrenner as CHC’s new Chief Development Officer!
A nonprofit leader with over 30 years of experience, Bettina is a transformational fundraiser dedicated to strengthening organizations that support children’s and women’s physical and behavioral health. She joins CHC from Shriners Children’s Northern California, where she played a critical role in advancing major gift programs and expanding fundraising strategies. Now, as she steps into her new role at CHC, Bettina is ready to bring her expertise and passion to ensure more families have access to the support they need.

A Vision for Expanding CHC’s Impact
CHC’s mission is built on the belief that early intervention, personalized support, and community education can change lives. As Chief Development Officer, Bettina will lead efforts to grow CHC’s philanthropic partnerships, ensuring that children and teens facing mental health and learning challenges receive the support they need—when they need it most.
“We are so excited to welcome Bettina to CHC,” says CHC’s CEO, Ryan Eisenberg. “Her leadership will be key in expanding our impact. Fundraising is about more than just numbers—it’s about building a community that believes in the power of mental health and learning support. With Bettina on board, we look forward to deepening our connections and ensuring more families have access to the full continuum of services CHC provides—from education and prevention to early intervention and crisis support.”
An Impressive Background in Nonprofit Leadership
Bettina’s career is defined by her dedication to making a difference. A Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE), she earned her Master’s in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco and has built a reputation as a strategic leader who not only raises funds but also builds lasting relationships with donors, community partners, and organizations.
Beyond her work in development, Bettina is an active advocate for community causes. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Silicon Valley, where she helps guide the next generation of fundraisers. She also leads workshops on grant writing and the role of AI in philanthropy, ensuring nonprofit organizations are equipped with the latest tools to increase their impact.
Her leadership experience extends into community service, where she has been a powerful force for change. Bettina previously served on the Board of Directors for Campbell Rotary, where she led youth programs, and as Vice-Chair for the Commission for the Status of Women in Santa Clara County, spearheading efforts to improve healthcare for incarcerated women and girls. She is also an alumna of Leadership Los Gatos and Leadership Santa Clara.
A Personal Commitment to Wellness and Family
While Bettina’s career has been dedicated to strengthening nonprofits, she also values balance in her personal life. She enjoys spending time with her family and is passionate about practicing and teaching yoga—a discipline that, much like her work in the nonprofit world, requires patience, dedication, and a deep connection to people.

With Bettina Kohlbrenner as CHC’s Chief Development Officer, we are excited for the future. Her leadership, experience, and vision will help expand CHC’s reach, ensuring that more children, teens, and young adults receive the support they need to thrive.
