June is National Internet Safety Month

June is National Internet Safety Month. The goal is to raise awareness about online safety, in particular, for children and teens.

Adults can help reduce the risks by talking to kids about making safe and responsible decisions.  These free resources from the FTC can help you talk to your kids and teens about cyberbullying, sexting and texting, online privacy, social media, virtual environments, and more.

Common Sense Media also offers a collection of resources for parents, educators, kids and teens.

Parents: Learn how to start a conversation, prepare to discuss difficult topics, create safe boundaries, monitor your child’s online activities and more. These valuable tips and resources were created by the Center for Identity to help keep your family safe and secure online.

The Center offers a free online and tablet game called “Beat the Thief,” designed to teach kids the importance of safe online sharing.
