At CHC, we offer in-depth evaluations to better understand your child’s unique strengths and challenges.
Our experienced team—including clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists—takes a comprehensive approach, assessing cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development. We go beyond diagnoses to explore how your child learns, processes information, and interacts with the world.
This holistic understanding helps uncover the “why” behind the struggles—whether they’re related to learning, behavior, or emotional well-being.
With clear insights and practical, personalized recommendations, we empower families with the next steps to support their child’s growth and long-term success.
Focuses on how a child learns and performs in an academic setting.
Takes a broader, more in-depth look at brain-based functioning across multiple areas of development.
While both clinical psychologist and neuropsychologists conduct neuropsychological testing, neuropsychologists have specialized training in understanding how medical and genetic conditions can impact brain function, cognition, learning, and behavior. They interpret evaluation results in the context of a child’s medical history to better understand how these conditions may have affected their brain.
To put it simply: If a psychologist is like a general surgeon, a neuropsychologist is like a brain surgeon—brought in when there are more complex or specific needs related to brain function.
This specialized expertise allows neuropsychologists to provide a more detailed understanding of how medical or neurological factors may be affecting your child’s development and functioning. An evaluation conducted by a neuropsychologist may be appropriate if your child has:
A neurological condition such as hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, neurofibromatosis, multiple sclerosis, tuberous sclerosis, or a brain tumor.
A traumatic brain injury resulting from any incident causing loss of consciousness or requiring hospitalization (serious head injury, stroke, brain infection).
Medical conditions that increase the risk of brain injury (diabetes, chronic heart or respiratory problems, genetic disorders, or treatment for childhood cancer).
Exposure to toxins like lead, drugs, inhalants, or substances in utero (e.g., alcohol, nicotine, or other drugs).
At CHC, evaluations are guided by care, expertise, and a deep commitment to understanding each individual’s unique strengths and challenges. Our team takes a thoughtful, collaborative approach—gathering valuable insights and delivering clear, comprehensive findings through a personalized, multi-step process.
The assessment team collaborates directly with the clinicians providing the recommended services for an integrated approach that ensures a smooth transition and continuity of care. CHC’s ability to deliver comprehensive care under one roof ensures access to a full range of post-assessment services tailored to individual needs, including:
